This was deserved. Can you imagine the outcry here is ABC had given an Al Qaeda leader who had killed Americans the same media opportunity?

ABC Gets The Russian Hammer.

Last week, Nightline ran an interview with Chechen rebel leader Shamil Basayev. This is the man who claims responsibility for the massacre in the Beslan school last year.

The Russian Defense Ministry has called for ABC to be stripped of accreditation while the Foreign Ministry demurred.

Now, the Foreign Ministry has announced that it will not renew ABC's accreditation after all.

MOSCOW — The Russian Foreign Ministry said Tuesday it will not renew the accreditation of ABC-TV after it broadcast an interview with a notorious Chechen warlord.

In a statement, the ministry said the American television channel would be considered "undesirable" for contacts with all Russian state agencies as a result of interview with Shamil Basayev, which was broadcast Thursday.

The ministry called the broadcast a "clear fact supporting the propaganda of terrorism" and said that the decision was made "not to renew the accreditation of employees of this television company after they expire."

Now, who ever heard of some in the media supporting the propaganda of terrorism? Shocking.
