>"Clinton's failure .... represents one of the most serious foreign policy failures in American history. "
Right. And it's the "Clinton Recession" now, too, I hear, disconnected from any economic factors. These press releases appear to be basically: anything to avoid responsibility in the same Reagan/Bush/Bush crew whose involvement extends back to 1988 founding of Al-Qaeda; and before, to 1984 to Pakistan, where Mr. Ijaz's father helped develop the Paki nuke, and apparently started to make a huge fortune. What a coincidence.
Someone like Ijaz who handles huge amounts of cash from dictatorship connections isn't exactly the profile I'd use for a reliable reporter.
In hindsight, several administrations were derelict (publicly, at least). Mr. Ijaz's close association with James Abramson, Reagan/Bush director of SDI, and James Woolsey ex-CIA director, hardly makes him a neutral observer.
Just for fun, the history of previous administrations, when the ball really got rolling:

1984 - Reagan/Bush first term begins --- In 1984, bin Laden first moves from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan to help Abdullah Azzam, founder of the Office of Services, establish training camps across the border in Afghanistan. The Office of Services' goal was to recruit and train Muslim volunteers. Bin Laden provides financial support and handling of military affairs.
1988 - Reagan/Bush second term begins --- In 1988, bin Laden turns to a global crusade. He founds a group called Al Qaeda, Arabic for The Base. According to the American Central Intelligence Agency, The Base has 5,000 trained militants, who have created cells in 50 countries. The purpose of these camps is to take militants from around the world and shape them into an international network that would bring all Muslims under a militant version of Islamic law.
Monsoor Ijaz is described here: groups.yahoo.com

James Abrahamson (USAF Ret.), former director of President Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative, and Turkey’s Global Group, A.S. Former CIA Director, R. James Woolsey, serves as vice chairman of Crescent’s Board of Governors

The idea that Sudan would be a credible participant in capturing Bin Laden is a stretch, to say the least.
Ijaz is described as having "an opulent lifestyle -- a huge multi-million-dollar penthouse in Manhattan, a 100-room chateau in France and a palatial estate in Toronto ... he wields influence through the US media, in memorandums to top US officials " |
