Some think that if Bush does win the election this time (unlike the last one, when he was appointed), he might well be the last Republican zealot-president for 25 years.

If Bush wins there is a good chance that the system of elections will change such that neocons have great structural advantages. It certainly has happened that way in Texas. The U.S. may become a one party sytem much like Mexico was for a hundred years.
