William Beaumont Hospital Finds E-Business Cure With Oracle(R)
Applications

Michigan's Preferred Healthcare Provider Estimates Savings of More Than $10 Million With Oracle's ERP Solution

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Oracle Corp. (
oracle.com ), the number one
choice for e-business, today announced that William
Beaumont Hospital, voted "Best Hospital" by U.S. News &
World Report (July 19, 1999), has chosen Oracle's
E-Business Suite to consolidate operations, streamline
business processes and reduce operating costs.

The hospital estimates savings of more than $10 million by
selecting Oracle's enterprise resource planning (ERP)
applications. The applications will automate the hospital's
processes from consolidating financial information to
procuring office supplies and medical equipment. This will
enable the hospital staff to focus on what it does best -- practicing innovative medicine and delivering quality
patient care.

"Oracle(R) Applications will allow William Beaumont
Hospital to realize tremendous cost savings as we
transition into an e-business," said Paul Peabody, vice
president and chief information officer at William Beaumont
Hospital. "We evaluated other solutions and chose Oracle because its tightly integrated Internet architecture was unmatched by the competition.

Oracle Applications provide us with tremendous opportunities to enhance the quality of patient care and help our medical staff function more efficiently, while also reducing costs."

Becoming an E-business

William Beaumont Hospital selected Oracle Applications because it wanted to leverage the power of the Internet. By facilitating better internal efficiencies through
employee self-service, Internet procurement and an
enterprise-wide view into operations, the hospital expects to cut total operational costs by $10 million. Through the Oracle implementation, William Beaumont Hospital will consolidate data into a single source and make use of Oracle Applications, including financials, supply chain, human resources, project accounting and the business intelligence system (BIS).

Using only a standard Web browser, Oracle Applications will empower the hospital staff with timely and reliable access to information and the ability to make forecasting decisions based on Oracle's sophisticated BIS.

"William Beaumont Hospital's decision to implement Oracle's E-Business Suite illustrates the vigorous return on investments and efficiencies that traditional organizations such as hospitals can benefit from by becoming
e-businesses," said David Nesvisky, vice president, Health Industries at Oracle Corp. "Leading healthcare industry players like William Beaumont Hospital are further validation that Oracle is the leader for e-business
solutions in the healthcare sector."

Michigan's William Beaumont Hospital includes a network of two hospitals with more than 10,000 employees and 1,400 private-practice physicians. Beaumont-Royal Oak is the second busiest hospital in the country for in-patient admissions.
