The USA still needs them because of their capability. The question is, do they themselves know it, and does the Military and the Congress know it? Numerous "American" opportunities (paid and unpaid) are available to retired SFers who want to continue to play either in an intense or calm environment. They include working for other govt org operations branches SF instructors civilianized SF staff positions ROTC instructors Special Forces Assn project volunteers Etc.
