I think Musk is way ahead of Ford and General Motors in electric vehicles. The old car companies have been very successful with their huge number of car-parts and the associated relationships along with their scale of operations with ICE technology. They just aren't going to give it up. They will make little EV offerings and then retreat to the way they have always done it when those heavy, too many parts designs are ineffective. In the meantime Musk will be making electric vehicles as if they were electric vehicles from the get-go. Biden is a fool to dream of a car industry who's time passed 50 years ago.
