SmartSales releases OutSmart SmartSales Inc SA Shares issued 11,830,929 Jan 31 close $0.23 Tue 1 Feb 2000 News Release Mr. Don Parker reports SmartSales Inc. today announced a special release of its innovative new e-business customer relationship management product called OutSmart. OutSmart seamlessly links to the Microsoft Outlook feature of Microsoft Windows 98 and Windows 2000 allowing users to extend the reach and functionality of Outlook from a contact management tool into a dynamic opportunity management sales force automation application. "SmartSales has leveraged its experience and knowledge gained over the past five years in developing effective, easy-to-use software, for opportunity management. We chose to focus strategically on one of the largest user communities who can integrate this technology into their day-to-day activities. That group is the 10 million plus users of Microsoft Outlook," states Don Parker, president and chief executive officer. The OutSmart product has been developed in two formats: the single user version and the enterprise versions recognizing the wide appeal and generic need for effective opportunity management applications within both small and large business environments. The architecture of OutSmart is designed to work completely within a Microsoft environment in order to fit seamlessly within Outlook. "Not only have we taken all the features of our earlier versions of SmartSales products, but we also extended the existing rich functionality of Outlook. That combination is powerful," says Mr. Parker. "Users of OutSmart can now have a full suite of integrated tools to maximize and control sales opportunities, without the extensive implementation challenges and huge dollar investments of other CRM (customer relationship management) packages." Mr. Parker also adds: "We are able to strategically extend the existing desktop of Outlook users in a very simple easy to use fashion. OutSmart does a great job at enhancing customer experience and leveraging value from that existing technology." Many enterprises currently use the Microsoft Office suite of products as the desktop standard for their user communities. Integrating OutSmart into this environment provides enterprises with a tremendous opportunity. "It is a value proposition that we believe has wide appeal," said Mr. Parker. On an introductory basis, a single user licence of the OutSmart Product is available free to anyone who wishes to download it. It is available for a limited time from the www.outsmartsoftware.com Web site 24 hours a day. "Right now, for a limited time, everyone who uses Microsoft Outlook 98 or Microsoft Outlook 2000 can try the OutSmart product for individual use without paying any OutSmart licence fees. We want to encourage its use," states Mr. Parker. "When we work with organizations on their enterprise installations, there are licensing fees for the components required by corporations. We install a core solution with the ability to customize it to meet their specific corporate needs. Customer organizations can work with us and our registered partners to assist in the fine-tuning," says Mr. Parker.
