Barrie,

Enam raises some very good questions with regards to JAWZ and every other encryption company that claims to have the end-all algorithm. Unless you're a cryptographer or very involved in the security industry, how do you know whether they're for real or just blowing smoke?

I provided this link on the JAWZ thread awhile back to a page maintained by Peter Gutmann in New Zealand.

cs.auckland.ac.nz

Peter Gutmann is a highly respected security guru who has put together the most comprehensive list of security-related links I've ever seen. You'll notice that JAWZ isn't mentioned on there anywhere...not even under the Snake Oil section. Read into this what you like, but if I were an investor and I went to page like this and didn't even see a reference to the company, that would raise some serious questions in my mind. Add to that the one cryptographer I know personally has never heard of them, just who are these guys?

But you can look at it another way. What if they really are onto something with L5? By the time everyone HAS heard about them, maybe we'll have missed the boat to invest. At .37 a share, is now the time? THAT'S the big question in my mind. Not being a cryptographer, how can I know they have something good?
