STAFF WRITER EDITION: ALL EDITIONS SECTION: News DATE: 12-03-1999 A12 Art Bell, the late-night radio host with the yen for aliens and UFOs, had another encounter of the scary kind. Bell, heard locally on WABC/770 AM, stayed off the air Tuesday, and when he returned Wednesday, he reported he'd been sitting at home with a 12-gauge shotgun because he and his wife had been threatened with death. "I can't come on the air and do a five-hour radio show while I am trying to be vigilant about somebody who is coming here to slaughter my family," Bell said, according to a transcript provided by WABC.
