MARKET Develops semiconductors for flat-panel displays. Its PanelLink chip technology is used in the design of all-digital display interfaces for cellular phones, other handheld computing devices, and laptop computers. PanelLink technology lets a device transmit data to a display digitally, increasing image resolution and reducing manufacturing costs. PanelLink has been adopted by several industry consortiums, with members including IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Compaq, and NEC. In December Hitachi developed its first all-digital desktop PC display using PanelLink. Other customers include ATI Technologies, Compaq, Gateway 2000, IBM, LG Electronics, Samsung, Siemens, and Toshiba.
