It is a real pleasure to get the insight of someone who really
knows what they are talking about. I have only used the
inexpensive student version of SPSS for windows, so my
perspective is both limited and ignorant of the pricing issues
you raised.

I think there is an analogy here: Early on, accounting software
publishers also used the expensive module approach. Then
DACEasy and some others came out with inexpensive integrated,
all-in-one accounting packages. It sounds like SPSS will have
to start bundling more for less, too, if it wants to stay in the
ballgame.
