I didn't read HP's comments, so I can't respond with any real insight. From what I heard, HP stated that they were seeing serious price competition in the PC marketplace, which is not surprising given the bloated inventory levels Compaq had at the start of the year and the blowout pricing they used to whittle it down. Perhaps HP got jammed up with inventory themselves, who knows. Regardless, without a formal warning from SMOD by now all we can do is sit and wait it out. I for one have confidence in SMOD meeting the numbers, but all that is, is a gut feel.
