Las Vegas, 7 April 1997. Optibase, the world recognized leader in MPEG digital compression equipment, will showcase several Windows 95 digital video systems at booth S5826, located in the Sands Convention Center at NAB between 7-10 April 1997. Visitors to the Optibase booth will be able to see the VideoQuest, Optibase's new MPEG-2 decoding board, the MPEG ShowSite, an MPEG-1 encoding system designed for low bit rate encoding and the MPEG ComMotion, an MPEG-2 transmission system with new multi-board capabilities. Also on display will be Optibase's premium line of encoding systems, controlled by a new and powerful version of the MPEG Composer management software. VideoQuest, the latest addition to Optibase's line of MPEG decoders, is a high-end decoding board designed for professional playback environments. The VideoQuest supports YCbCr and RGB component video outputs and balanced and unbalanced audio outputs that make it an excellent solution for applications such as tape-to-tape systems, news gathering, medical imaging, distance learning, high-end kiosk and video wall applications. Additional features include back-to-back playback and Closed Caption display. MPEG ShowSite, Optibase's new MPEG-1 encoding system is now shipping. The MPEG ShowSite is designed for video publishing on Intranets, the Internet and corporate presentations. Based on unique Optibase technology, the MPEG ShowSite can achieve video bit rates as low as 28.8 Kbit/s. MPEG ComMotion is a system which encodes and transmits MPEG video live to viewers anywhere in the world over T1, E1 or RS-422 lines. At NAB, Optibase will be demonstrating the MPEG ComMotion's multi-board capabilities. This new feature allows the MPEG ComMotion to transmit video streams from several encoding boards residing in the same PC. This multi-board support gives users central control over several video sources which are encoded and transmitted simultaneously by the same system. Optibase's premium line of encoding systems includes the MPEG Fusion, an MPEG-2 Full D-1 encoding system, the MPEG Forge, an MPEG-2 Half D-1 encoding system and the MPEG Super Suite an MPEG-1 encoding system. These systems are controlled by a new version of the MPEG Composer Management Software which now supports real-time Transport multiplexing and Closed Caption display. The MPEG Composer interleaves Closed Caption data with the encoded MPEG stream so that it is displayed together when the file is output to a TV monitor. The MPEG Composer also has a redesigned MPEG Organizer, a tool that offers total control over all MPEG Composer tools in batch mode. |
