>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Thanks Venke, I am glad that you appreciated my post. I was just very
tired of all the claims and hype that was going on with absolutely no
means to back it up. As I have been saying for a while now, I felt ASND
would most likely come down from the 40's before it made any substantial
move upward. At first, I was criticized for this by I believe somebody
named Style Pts. He said Ascend would Never see the high 20's as I had
mentioned as a likely scenario. Well, I still believe that the high 20's
are possible but I went ahead today and bought Ascend because it looked
very attractive to me. To hedge myself , I bought 1/2 of my position
today right before close. I still believe strongly that this company is
fundamentally sound. That is always my first criteria for buying any
stock. According to last quarter they have ~800million dollars in cash
and a/r. They have NO long term debt at all. They are now trading at
18-22 times next years REVISED down earnings. I believe that these
delays, are just that, delays. It is my feeling that their core Remote
access server business is just experiencing a short-term problem.
According to latest market share report their main business of Remote
access servers still has 31% of the market. This compares to 3com with
32% and Cisco with 16%. Based on my TA their next support is 31 7/8 and
then 29. This is going back to 95-96 when they traded at these levels.
It is also my believe that the Cascade merger will prove very benefical
in the long run. As I have always said, I liked Ascend but I thought it
had some room to go down. Well, I surmise that we are very close to the
bottom now. If we go any lower I will add to my postion. I feel that the
short-term will by a rocky ride but the long-term will prove to be very
positive, barring any unforseen fundamental changes in the company's
products and/or customer relationships.
