Data Translation's Broadway to support RealMedia Platform
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 8, 1997--NAB '97/NAB Multimedia World Booth no. M7154--
Broadway Will Bundle Progressive Networks' RealVideo Technology
For Creating And Delivering Streaming Internet Video
Data Translation Inc today announced that it has joined Progressive Networks' RealMedia Application Developer Program and will integrate support for the RealVideo Platform within the Broadway Application Video system. This agreement will provide users of the Broadway system with a complete creation solution for streaming Internet video and media for under $1,000 (USD).
Broadway is Data Translation's award-winning, easy-to-use MPEG video creation solution for adding full-motion Application Video onto web sites and into desktop software tools such as presentations, computer-based training and e-mail messages. By bundling RealVideo technology, Broadway delivers the capabilities for web site authors to produce full-motion, streamable video at an affordable price point of $995 (suggested US list). Broadway and RealVideo affords users versatility for creating both compressed MPEG-standard video files for downloads or streaming video for real-time Internet or corporate intranet viewing. Web clients are provided with the option of previewing video clips in real time via streaming technology. After this real-time viewing, web clients can then decide if they want the full file of VHS-quality video, then actually download that file for local storage.
"We are pleased to join the RealMedia Application Developer Program, which will further enhance Broadway's support for the delivery of real-time media over the Internet," said Fred Molinari, president of Data Translation. "Broadway's integration of the RealMedia Platform is a natural extension of Data Translation's leadership position for creating Internet and Application Video. Broadway will continue to initiate similar strategic alliances, demonstrating our commitment to supporting the convergence of video, voice, and data over the Internet and corporate intranets."
"As a pioneer and market-leading platform for streaming media over the Internet, Progressive Networks is committed to enabling the Internet to become the next mass media," said Brett Goodwin, group leader at Progressive Networks. "We embrace the opportunity to join forces with Data Translation, with whom we share many of the same goals for media delivery on the web. Broadway's support of the RealMedia Architecture will help both companies continue to break down the barriers and address the limitations that have prevented the widespread availability of video on the Internet."
