I can see what you are referring to---- the change to the new flight-------it was the airlines that did the switching and not the two women. So they were caught up in the system.

Especially with the timing near tor 9/11 the airlines were being super cautious.

And apparently still are------unfortunately I can understand the mentality of terrorist with the older woman and the baby--------terroist don't care who they sacrifice. Just use the young and the old.
