You fail to realize that abortion is the woman's decision. No doctor puts pressure on them to abort

BS.. David... you doctors give more advice to women when it comes to the merits of plastic surgery than you do with regard to terminating a pregnancy....

And that's the inherent problem... I can support the current law where women have the right to have an abortion... I'm not attempting to take that right away. What I believe in is limiting the time frame in which an elective abortion (minus mother's life being endangered), is available in order to force a serious discussion of the mother's options early in the term, rather than waiting for 8 months and then making a hasty last-minute decision.

The fact that a teenage girl has to have permission of her parents to have her ears pierced, yet can obtain an abortion without parental notification somehow strikes me as rather odd...

They were adult enough to have a relationship so they are adult enough to make a choice.

And I guess this rationale would remain pertinent for juvenile criminal offenders?

They were "adult enough" to kill that old man for the contents of his wallet, so he's adult enough to face the death penalty??..

There is a direct correlation between the two scenarios.

And just because a girl has the physical capability to get pregnant at 12 years of age, in no way equates to her having the maturity necessary to make a decision that will alter her life forever in a traumatic manner, whether that decision be to abort, or to carry to term.

Personally, I think a whole lot of the stigma of abortion would be removed if the extremists from either side backed off of their positions and concentrated on the reality and the trauma of the actual procedure.

And I'm a big believer in making birth control available to sexually active teens without permission of a parent since this compromise strikes me as a means of preventing the necessity of an abortion.

Btw, whether you're general practitioner, or a specialist, it is my understanding that ALL OF YOU TAKE THE SAME HIPPOCRATIC OATH.

But I guess oaths don't mean anything to you liberals, do they? They certainly didn't mean anything for Clinton and Gore.

Regards,

Ron
