8 mpg is even worse than my Disco - 13 in town, 14 to 15 on the highway. They recommend premium, I've been burning mid-range for years with no discernible problem, thinking about going to regular just to see how it works. Newpaper had an article that suggested that you would only notice a loss of power at high speeds, and I don't usually go all that fast.

It's V-8 4.0 liter, based on an old Buick engine.
