sly,
aol is a wonderful very useful household tool. they make life easier for people who don't know the difference between an isp, a browser, and a search engine. with aol you don't really need to know unless you really get into research on the web. aol is determined to cover the broadband aspects of the internet. i do not know how, but they have to. streaming media is here. the idea of using the internet for e-mail and news is old stuff.
we have been held back by speed problems. cable, isdn and satellite have fixed that. now computer memory speed is a hang up. intc is going to fix that in september when they pop us from 100mhz sdram to 800mhz rambus rdram.
we will then be using our pc's for audio, video, unbelievably, awesome games, telephone calls with streaming video, downloading and watching movies, and on and on. aol has to have it all. they have learned it is faster and much easier to shut out the competition by buying the best using their stock as capital for acquisitions.
the fact is it would not surprise me a bit if aol bought navr or netradio.
on the other hand, unless they announce immediately, i also do not think it matters much short-term whether aol does buy or not. the stock is moving on hype and rumor. up 10% on 4x normal volume coupled with a buyout rumor on stockrumor.com will create huge interest over the next few days imo. in the market rumor is very often much more potent than fact.
good luck
