The GDP of the US in 1945 was 1.8 trillion. The GDP today is 11+ trillion. The current CIA estimate of China's GDP is 7+ trillion. It may well be that China does not have in place today anything like the US in military ability. But scale of China's economy and the fact it can be redirected based on the nut case du jour suggests real caution in assessing the long term threat.
