Tata Motors May Spin Off Jaguar Into Separate Co - Report
Thursday 02/21/2008 9:53 PM ET - Dow Jones News
BANGALORE (Dow Jones)--Tata Motors Ltd. (500570.BY) may spin off Jaguar into a separate business entity after buying the loss-making automaker, along with Land Rover, from Ford Motor Co. (F), the Economic Times reported, citing unnamed sources. It added that while Land Rover may be integrated with Tata,, the Indian company would prefer to keep Jaguar separate so as to keep its losses off its books.
Earlier this month, Tata Motors - India's second-largest passenger vehicle-maker by sales - said it hopes to sign an agreement in the "forthcoming weeks" to buy Jaguar and Land Rover.
