do you have a reference to a document that says he has gone awol? What are military regulations to put someone on list of awol? Do they use a special form? Does it get forward to civil authorities.

I knew someone was awol when we arrived at Ft Dix in 1963 and seven guys bolted off the bus as the door opened and ran away. I remember three guys in basic took off late one night from our barricks not to return. I remember one guy in unit after missing nine months of meetings coming back to attend meetings,, did so for two months and then missed meetings again and was considered awol and put back the national guard notified the draft board. I know of numberous men who traveled , relocated , were out sick for extended periods of time but they made up drills at later dates at other locations where they sat around reading a book. these people were not awol.
