Once upon a time, MACD was my indicator of choice but I had to shorten the calculation bases because the signals were usually late. I did get the calculation base short enough to have only a short lag. The price I paid was instability. I'd buy and the MACD would reverse in a day or two. Or I'd buy and the stock wouldn't go up more than a fraction. Ultimately I found other indicators.

Right now I like a 14/3/3 ADXR. When a trend starts, I get an early reading. Of course, trends do point down too, so there's nothing automated about the interpretation. How does ADXR work on PSUN? Poorly. My PSUN purchase was based on a significant price drop followed by stability. Comparing it to November, 1998, I felt it highly probably to get a full recovery. ADXR was not significant there. Previous history was. (Pattern recognition?)

Pick only one version of an MACD? I think I'll sidestep that one if I can.
