While the answer may seem obvious, I think it is hard to answer because we don't have real applications to compare to. Can't use SPEC because it is basically like seeing a car at the showroom, everything looks perfect. All we have to look at now are applications done with OK compilers, and we know the results of that.

Maybe we should check in a year or so when "modern" code is actually modern.
