OT - Regarding your questions:

"Could you expound a bit on the strategy behind the LT portfolio you are accumulating, specifically: (1) Is this a "family" fund or is it your personal account? (2) Do you have free reign in managing it? (3) Are there any guiding principles that determine its composition?"

Sam,

The buys I began making this month are new additions to my personal long term portfolio, and yes, I have total control of its management. I'm funding the investments with proceeds primarily from sales of strips and bond funds. I've had a very safe overall asset allocation that became even more conservative over the last 18 months as I funneled trading profits into funds and zeros (including about $250K from AMAT ST trading!).

I was lucky that I didn't begin buying sooner. I'd been looking for an opportunity to reallocate into some LT stock positions, but because I was a perpetual ST bear, I continually believed there would be a better price if I waited just a little bit longer.

So, as for my recent buys, I've begun assembling a portfolio that's fairly broad with a core emphasis on large cap value with yields.

Thus far, I have focused on:

22% Energy with XOM, BP and TOT
27% Financials with C, BAC, WFC and FNM
17% Technology with INTC and QQQ

For balance I have:

04% Services with VIA.B
02% Utilities with CPN
09% Conglomerates with GE
07% Communications with SBC and BLS
12% S&P 500 with SPY

Going forward, I'm currently thinking that I'll keep the Financial allocation high, lower the Energy allocation and increase the Technology allocation.
