Best of Thread List Happy Fourth of July! Several times I thought how great it would be to assemble a list of the most important posts from the CC4D thread but I am daunted by the sheer amount of time such a project will require. I think I am ready to begin this task but I could use a little help. You can help me by posting lists of your favorite posts for our consideration. I am thinking of eventually putting these reference lists in the thread header or some such thing. To help organize these references perhaps you can indicate the ranges of post-numbers you have examined. I think we should consider establishing a few categories for a the various topics. Usefully categorizing things can be a tricky business so perhaps the first order of business is to kick this issue around. As our skills have grown and as more experienced people have contributed to the discussions, I think the thread has become less approachable to the beginners who are always cruising by. I usually tell them to just start reading the whole message list but I think a few pointers to beginner's topics, a sort of FAQ for Dummies, would be a good thing so here are a few suggestions right off the top of my head: Getting Started for Dummies - Cautions - How calls are traded and settled - How premiums behave - Time and Intrinsic Values - Thinking about OTM, ATM, and ITM calls - Anticipating assignment - Determining the ROI -- What does it really mean? - The tech stocks we like - Getting (and staying) organized - Doing your research - Where's the info? - Examples for LTB&H Writers - Examples for Buy/Write Dummies - Working with retirement (tax-free accounts) - Working with taxable accounts. Actions to Take While the Position is Open - What can happen - Closing a position - Ideas for recovery Leaps PUT Strategies Brokers and Option Trading Levels Unidentified Posted Objects Gosh, this turned out to be a much longer list than I had expected -- is this overkill?
