excellent post lurqer i highlight this and a warning <<For reasons that are unclear, many forget about the Despair to Disgust second phase of a secular bear. While not as spectacular as the dizzying plunge of the first phase, its significance should not be underestimated. Its duration is of equal or greater length than the plunge period, and it is in this phase that true capitulation occurs. While the overall trend of this phase is sideways, the continuing oscillations leading to hope that is repeatedly dashed, is what leads to complete disgust. During this phase mutual fund redemptions soar, market participation plunges and the last diehard LTB&H bulls give up. All necessary preconditions for the next secular bull.

lurqer>. What lurqer wrote here is dead-on correct. But now i need bring up a danger now that the market has NEVER faced in its history, and that is at this time far far more of the public is in the market than ever before, so there coming to the DISGUST phase could be devastating.
So devastating that, as WLD, has suggested, the Government will FREEZE say the 401ks. i would say they would FREEZE all transactions, actually close the market, but they would likely just freeze 401ks so all the rich rich rich without 401ks can sell why the 401Ks are frozen.Max
