>>I am under the assumption that the equipment will be deployed over months and possibly years.<< As a footnote to this NTT deal, there was a front-page article in Tuesday's WSJ with the following title: "Japanese 'Big Bang' Is Leading to Big Boon For U.S. High Tech -- Financial Deregulation Spurs Huge Computer Outlays; Local Firms Left Behind" The gist of the article is that Japanese companies are in an unprecedented scramble for the next three years to upgrade their information systems to face the competition resulting from Prime Minister Hashimoto's reforms. And they will be buying much of their equipment and software from American firms. This is bullish news for high tech companies. I'm glad to see that Ascend is getting a nice chunk of the pie.
