Sophistry at the TJ salon, originally the elmat salon, has been a long time favorite of many.

Unlike my Great-Grandmother Helene's Salons the topics actually change as time goes along.

I'm glad to see you enjoy this salon it as much as I do.

I asked one of my Mom's cousins once what topic Helene's salons covered and he replied, "Usually the same ones."

Her favorite topic was "Hollywood used to be a wonderful town until the movies arrived."

But the cognoscenti knew this was a bit of self-deception as the reason she had come to Hollywood in 1911 was she told the concierge at the hotel at the Grand Canyon,

"The kids were disappointed because they wanted to see cowboys and Indians."

He told her, "Lady, if you want to see cowboys and Indians you'd better go to Hollywood."

Back then the cowboys and Indians all met at Gower Gulch hoping to get work on a film that day. Roy Rogers hung out there supposedly, although the coffee shop was replaced long ago with a Denny's.
