Who knows how many jihadis are among these “refugees”? No one! But it would be “Islamophobic” to wonder, so relax and celebrate diversity!

“Manchester has already accommodated 1,000 refugees fleeing Afghanistan,” by Jennifer Williams, Manchester Evening News, August 19, 2021:
More than 1,000 people fleeing Afghanistan have been accommodated in Manchester hotels as the government scrambles to evacuate people from the crisis-torn country.
For several weeks before the Taliban seized total control of the country this weekend, the town hall had already been working with the Home Office and Foreign Office to place people fleeing to safety in initial quarantine.
It is understood that at present, capacity in the three hotels being used in Manchester is therefore full and the government is seeking to place people in other parts of the country.
The hotels being used are not being disclosed by either the council or the Home Office.
The government announced plans this week to receive 20,000 refugees from Afghanistan over the next four years, after the departure of Western troops triggered the almost immediate takeover of the Taliban and led to thousands of people trying to flee via Kabul airport this weekend, some of them hanging off planes in a desperate bid to escape.
However prior to that there had already been a more managed government evacuation underway of British-Afghan nationals and people who had been working to support the Western military presence, such as interpreters.
Hundreds of people in that initial phase of evacuations have been quarantined in Manchester over the last fortnight, meaning that at present the city has not been asked to accommodate any more refugees. Sources said the situation was changing almost hourly, but that the government has been concentrating on finding hotel space in other parts of the country…. |
