Benjamin,

>> Or to put it another way, do we really want one company, Microsoft - or
anyone - to control for eternity the OS. Is this the best the world will
ever get ? New Users are too blinded by the compatibility argument and
"me too" isms. However, this is just the first stage to a wired world,
not the last.<<

From home user's viewpoint, Window 95 along with bunch of software are
good enough since they don't develop any software, even don't build up
any scripts to effectively run the apps. Hence, oo or not oo, it seems
not that important from software point of view at home. However, Apple
really has its strength on user interface as opposed to Window 95. I have
used more than 10 various platforms, Apple is one of the best in user
interface, as well as file retrieval and storage. Home users don't much
care about these features.

From enterprise viewpoint, the companies need to develop apps to run certain
functions, hence oo would be a key technology to be used effectively to
develop apps. Hence, Next/Apple might take some advantage from its
capability.

From school viewpoint, the newest technology would be advantageous to
school, especially in higher education institutes. Therefore, Apple's
new OS would provide the best platform to students to learn and prepare
for the career after graduation.

From multimedia viewpoint, great user interface as well as advanced graphics
capability from Apple, and traditionally, they use more Apple than any other
platform. The trend will continue even MMX of Intel tries to catch up.

Of course, Window 95 will continue its popularity as always, Apple just
plays catch-up game.

>>It's just a matter of time before Windows users demand more and become more
saavy. And the world will change.<<

I am not sure the time will come and wish it is true in the future.

>>It hope Apple regains its tecnology "prophecy" place. The steps with
NEXT/Laptops/Newton all point in positive directions. I do not think
we should worry about a company with minority share, IF it regains its
leading edge delivery.<<

I am optimistic about Apple's future because of its superior tachnology.
No matter how small share it has right now, the excellent technology will
be well accepted and getting more popular gradually.

Let's all hope Apple can conquer this period of difficult time and
prosper in the future.
