That's the bottom line for me. All these arguments were made about Medicare in the early 1960's, with Ronnie Reagan's famous clip about the country descending into socialist hell or something equally asinine.

Having lived around the world and watched other countries struggle often to implement fundamental reforms, I've heard all the stalling tactics before. The fact that they come now mostly from affluent older whites safely ensconced in the Medicare system is particularly repellent to me.

I've got mine, go get yours somewhere else and stay the hell off my porch. My government-subsidized and regulated porch, that is.
