It's got most of those specs, 2.66ghz 512dram hd80gb etc ... but dialup is the bottleneck, it loads faster than the old one but not by that much ... cable means digging up the whole yard right through years of tiddly-poo landscaping, because everything else comes underground for a fair distance, didn't want wires obscuring the view years ago [and didn't think of cable, aargh]
Interesting to get into sedar.com, learned a lot, but - there went hours and hours and most of it not to much use ... trouble with access to so much data is you need to be selective how you use it, and some of us are not so good at such discipline ... you can't read it all, or make any use of much of it ... after stockwatch changed their programme to block out my netscape 1.01 or whatever, i found i had lots more time to do other stuff, and trading didn't suffer much if at all .... probably had better returns because there was less compulsion to trade, wasn't so glued to the screen fascinated by the minutiae that isn't going to mean anything in an hundred minutes let alone days ... it's the old question, do you want to be an investor or a trader ['My computer made me a trader' ... 'Yes well maybe a new computer would make you a better one?' ... 'Out of what!?'] .... but, gotta have the realtime depth, pant pant, so here comes stockwitch
'Firing for effect' - sure, that would be the flurries of drilling after a nice hole, along with the zippy news stream ... definitely artillery science is related to stocks, that's likely why Seaforth Armoury is on Burrard there, so close to Howe Street |
