You brought up a memory John....In 1964, we had gone to Lockport NY to see the kickoff campaign of Goldwater and Miller, his running mate. 4 of us stood 4 hours in the hot sun waiting to hear Miller and Goldwater, with thousands of others.

We heard them, and got to meet the families.

Then in the car, on the way home, all four of us in the same car, we heard from ABC radio, NOT what Goldwater himself had said, BUT rather what Humphrey said that Goldwater had said.

My very first, onhand, direct experience with biased media.

As for whether I was a Dem in 1960, I was a Hubert Humphrey Dem in 1960 and subscribed to the notion there was very little difference between Nixon and Kennedy.
