To all I am long 3,000 shares at about $33.50. I got in on Monday when the price was just too ridiculously low. I think that the NTT news is REALLY BIG and it shows that ascend really must know what they are doing because it is extremely difficult to burrow into the Japanese business infrastructure. ***** I know this well because I currently live and own a business in Japan........ NTT is a MONSTER corporation here, like AT&T before the break up. To the Japanese the intitials NTT are almost inseparable with the word "denwa" (telephone). Furthermore once you are finally into the Japanese market you can expect further penetration because business "connections" ("konei") are extremely important in Japan. Developing a trusted Japanese business client/customer most udoubtedly leads to further contacts and mutually beneficial (i.e profitable) relationships for the entire life of the companys and NTT is the mother of all companys on this side of the pacific. Lastly computers and the internet are in a ripe stage that is just beginning to explode here in Japan. Aside from the fact that most Americans see Japan as a high tech wonderland, that really isn't entirely true. The high tech is here but it hasn't (aside from cell phones) been penetrating into the masses that quickly, however this too is beginning to change rapidly but overall high tech consumerism is not ahead of the U.S. but behind which means we should witness a serious BOOM in the markets especially for computer/internet related products here in Japan. Large computer stores (chains) are just beginning to open in Japan (one opened last month in my town (Kani) of 80,000 people). Also when it comes to the internet, speed is crucial over here for the main reason that you must pay about 10 yen (.09 cents) every 3 minutes for local calls. So 56k modems and ISDN are truly a neccessity. Believe me I know......you should see some of my phone bills before I switched from a 32K modem to ISDN (which is the same phone rate as if you used a modem or made a local telephone call). Anyway I'm not trying to hype here I'm really just stating what I see in my life and what I believe to be fact here in Japan. I'm currently waiting for another order to be filled for another 1500 shares Good Luck to all (although some one has to lose.) Pheonix
