hmaly,

They convert to liquids, not gas, although solids and liquids are first converted to gas before entering into the GTL process. It's not a mobile unit as far as I know, but I don't know that much about it. Most of what I know I got from the 10K business description, which is pretty good, IMO:
sec.gov

The company doesn't have any plants in full commercial production yet, so the cost projections are iffy/hopeful. Could still be a few years away -- hard to tell.

Another environmental plus I forgot to mention is that their diesel fuel end product is very low in sulfur and burns very clean.

Also, I think that their technology could possibly be used to produce H2 as an end product, which, if transported as a solid in Mg-hydride beds, for example, would be very safe and a great boost for the coming hydrogen economy.

The remote natural gas reservoirs can be had much more cheaply than the conveniently located ones.
