Myron, did your friend use the 'rescue CD' which comes with most computers now to get your machine running again?
How did you get MS Word previously? Was it on the PC when you bought it? Is there a MS Word CD?

I ask because I had a pc where MS Word was on the 'rescue CD' but didn't automatically get reinstalled after doing a restore. Is your pc a Compaq? they have a unique way of doing things.
