It puts me in mind of the fact that Bush has held almost no press conferences, no doubt because he's afraid of the questions. Now it turns out that the press conferences are scripted, using the press as characters in a Bush commercial -- and Bush is scared of follow-up questions.

Last night on SNL, they said something to the effect that to blame Bush for anything going on in his administration is akin to bleming the San Diego Chicken for poor play of the Padres.

If you were managing Bush, you wouldn't want him to answer unscripted questions either! Did you see his handlers (Cheney, Rice et al) at the press conference? They had these fixed grins on their faces, as though they were just trying to get through it without watching him blow it.
