Hi Sig,

That has been a long time. I also agree with Odom. On the other hand you are right when you say But we know that that Iraq needs a stabilized and predictable government to prevent disruption of their oil supplies..

The US can't leave Iraq now because they wouldn't be able (after being kicked out of Saudi Arabia) to prevent the disruption of their oil supplies.

Well, I think it is fair that, by knowing that, we finally know for sure why Bush invaded Iraq in the first place. I will not judge if that is right or wrong. It is not what Bush told the American People, the Iraqis and the rest of the world. In Holland we call this lying.

Have said that, I am probably one of the very few people on this planet who got more respect for the US in the last 2 weeks. I am impressed by the response of the overwhelming majority of the US people. I was impressed by the hearings, Republican Senators asking tough questions, I even still have some respect for Rumsfeld (although for me there is no doubt he should resign). In contrast with the British, the American system leaves no room for covering up such things (although some at least tried). Hope you'll learn from your mistakes.

Our national trauma is Srebrenica. Our complete government resigned when the final report came out. I wish they have done more.

Regards,

Paul
