Agreed, and a lot of the jamming that was done in response was due to mechanical valuation models...eg, the Prudential clowns call today that "Stocks are more undervalued than they've been in 25 years" or some such rot...based on a P/E to T-bill yield model that's effectively been rendered useless by yesterday's announcement. As Luc sez though, never underestimate clownish stupidity.

I suspect Rubin was actively involved in this move, it was probably hatched in the closed door session where he met with BubbleBoy a couple of weeks ago.
