Triptans are pretty idiosyncratic - what works great for one person doesn't always work for another. I also currently use Maxalt, but my latest research suggests almotriptan (Axert from J&J) is now considered best of breed, with Pfizer's Relpax and some others perhaps second. Unfortunately my health insurer's formulary doesn't agree with my ratings. <g>

One interesting fact about Maxalt - it comes in an instant dissolve version and a tablet version. Care to guess which has the quicker absorption? The tablet, consistently.
