I just read that MSFT is Appealling the SUN Java Case.
I think the company strategists are finally starting to use their brain power (for which they get lots of money). Notice how they imediately complied with the court order when it was issued.
ANY OPINIONS on why they decided to appeal?
My guess:
I remember reading that SUNW can cancel the licensing agreement. If so, why would the company bother with objecting to the injunction? Remember that I am only discussing the injunction as the trial date for the actual case has not even been set. My feeling is that MSFT wants to stop using Java but wants SUNW to cancel the agreement. If MSFT does it, there would be a backlash against the company. If SUNW cancels it , then there won't be. I understand they don't use it for WEB TV and probably don't want to use it all but are afraid of a backlash. I am interested on hearing other views on this appeal.
I hope this helps the stock move up (or at least not move down on a percentage basis as much as other tech stocks due to the other events taking place)
