Bill,

<<Is ROK going to build the modems or only produce a chipset like Lucent? >> Just the chips. The chips go to lots of vendors. Check out Rockwell's propaganda: nb.rockwell.com There is actually some good information there for those who want to learn more about their 56K plans.

<<56K Upgradeable Modem: Select new Presario PCs will include the 56K upgradeable Modem(7), the fastest modem supported over standard phone lines. It uses the K56flex protocol that is jointly developed with Lucent Technologies and Rockwell Semiconductor Systems.....>> They don't seem to give a modem brand name here???

Damn, I'm getting confused. I thought I had this figured out. I know that there are ROK chipset modems (Hayes, ZOOM, etc) that are flashable but I didn't think they could be programmed for 56K. Can someone clear this up? The Presario ad seems to indicate that other 56K modems are now in production.....

Eric
