Robert - Just got in, read your post. You make some great points. What infuriates me about this "control" being exercised by CC is that it verges on the rapacious. This sanctioned gutting of shareholders flies in the face of statements by IW management that they have been in discussions with major American investment bankers, and have been warmly received. If I recall correctly, the last interview had a statement to the effect that IW was in the process of narrowing down the field.
CC's message may indeed be powerful, but it only makes me yearn for a fantasy - that in the midst of CC's vigorous short-selling campaign, IW would pop an unexpected blockbuster NR that would subject CC to a murderous short squeeze. I have some knowledge of the antics of 2 brokerages in the last PP, and the stories are not pretty (remember, it was a multi-party PP).
I had hoped that we had seen the last of this crap - that IW and CC had reached some sort of understanding on what was good for the stock, and the shareholders. What confidence does Brown think this inspires in potential American investors? Does he delude himself that this blatant manipulation, counter to the best interests of shareholders, and public perception, inspires anything but disinterest? There were remarks on the EWD SH thread referring to the rebuff suffered by CC, when EWD management would have none of Brown's advances. Whether this is true I don't know, but at least EWD investors aren't sickened by the sight of a MM eating its own young. |
