I don't think it's real deflation. I think it's inflation that is unacknowledged by the Fed. They still use PCE, which ignores health care and oil prices and other major items that impact the consumer spending, which is 70% of our GDP. So the Fed is quite literally lying to the public and using a flawed model. Japan is likely our future, but we're still in a massive inflationary cycle in all assets and in prices ignored by the Fed. I just don't know how many housing bubbles bursting our economy can take before real estate gives up the ghost like it did in Japan. Maybe the coming bust will be the last one. Or maybe with our reserve currency status, we will print to armageddon and blow up the financial world, right before our own economic demise. I think the latter is the more likely. Japan is contained, because they are their own black box. But so goes the US, so goes the whole world. So it's different from that perspective.
