Independent Sources continued its good work digging into the political background of law firm Milberg Weiss, which is under federal investigation for class-action fraud. Yesterday, the blog revealed that the firm was the fourth-largest contributor to Barbara Boxer. Today we learned that is just the tip of the iceberg.

New York Senator Charles Schumer tops the list of the firms Democratic friends.

Here is small peak at the list for the 2001-2004 election cycle:

1 $50,750 Schumer, Charles E

2 $50,000 Democratic Senatorial Campaign Cmte

3 $41,900 Kerry, John

4 $37,500 DNC Services Corp

5 $32,250 Edwards, John

Also, Bill Nelson (D-FL) took $26,000 from the law firm. He is facing a tough re-election fight next year. This could hurt his chances.
