For some strange reason, the local spokespeople for the right are mortally afraid of a populist conservative with broad appeal. They're also quite dedicated to the idea of running against Clinton this year, which seems a bit odd in light of the 22nd amendment. More power to them, I say. My support's with W for the nomination, as well as my sympathy. McCain would be just as conservative, but more electable, and who wants that?
