B: MRV's Linux Router Named Finalist in Networld + Interop Best of Show Awards;
High-Performance Linux Router Named Finalist in Network Infrastructure Category

LAS VEGAS (May 10) BUSINESS WIRE -May 10, 1999--MRV Communications Inc.
(Nasdaq: MRVC), a leading provider of high-speed optical network
components and systems, Monday announced that its high-performance
Linux Router under its NBase-Xyplex brand name was named a finalist in
the Network Infrastructure category of the Networld + Interop '99 Best
of Show Awards.

Winners, selected by Data Communications and InternetWeek editors, will
be announced on May 12th.

Introduced last month and debuting this week at Networld + Interop, the
high-performance Linux Router, OSR 8040 system, is the first Open
system dedicated switch/router to use the Linux operating system. The
announcement was received with enthusiasm and has been featured in
several leading networking publications. General availability is
scheduled for Q3 '99. The Linux Router was developed and will be
manufactured by MRV's NBase division in Israel.

The Networld + Interop Best of Show Product Awards is designed to help

switch routing package for enterprise and service provider networks.
