Scott, pardon my previous error, in addressing you incorrectly.

I wanted to clarify what I meant by other vendors approaches
being compared to Monterey's. In the following EET article,
Lightera (recently acquired by CIEN) was compared to them,
as follows:

"Startups launch products with Williams deployments -- Optical transport gets real"
Loring Wirbel

<delete>

True Lightera production systems will not be in the field until the third quarter,
though the company has early commitments not only from Williams, but also
from IXC Communications Inc., to do beta testing. In addition to a
configurable hardware system, Lightera has developed its own optical
network-management system based on Corba. Also in its arsenal is a
dedicated provisioning kernel, LightWorks OS, which uses the proprietary
Optical Signaling and Routing Protocol, the first practical competitor to
Monterey's Wavelength Routing Protocol (see Feb. 8, page 1).
