Not sure I agree with your statement.

RIG's responsibility is to its share holders, not the government. If they are getting a majority of profits from their overseas operations, why shouldn't they find countries that respect capital more then US?


NOT Sure that I agree with your statement here completely. Surely RIG's responsibility is to its share holders. However US Government's responsibility is towards it's own citizenry and SHOULD arm twist the rogue businesses avoiding paying their fair share of taxes (or perhaps coax out better deals in US interests). After all we are providing them a marketplace for them to make profit and are a free marketplace compared to several other countries, right? If they don't like it, they are more than welcome to take their business elsewhere (assuming US Government ensures adequate competitive forces in every sector/sub sector of the industries).
